About Dr. Mathis


Dr. Stephen M. Mathis, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist and certified addictions counselor.

Since 1983, Dr. Mathis has specialized in working with and treating adolescents, adults, families/couples, athletes, trauma survivors, and gays/lesbians/bisexuals.

In addition to providing psychological assessment, individual psychotherapy, and group therapy, Dr. Mathis
has been an adjunct/part-time faculty at several colleges (both brick-and-mortar and online institutions), conducts
seminars and workshops nationwide on a variety of topics, supervises other therapists, and has pioneered a new
form of music-assisted therapy (M.A.TH.I.S.).

Dr. Mathis is one of the very few clinicians in the city who works on weekends and evenings in addition to doing “house calls” and other out-of-office appointments.

Further, Dr. Mathis is able to perform Telementalhealth sessions via a secured web provider for existing patients who might have difficulties in coming to his office on a regular basis.
